Karaweik Palace showcases an authentic culture of Myanmar people

Karaweik palace is among the famous landmarks in Yangon city that is located at the Eastern side of Kandawgyi Lake. It’s a symbol of the traditional Myanmar culture and art. This palace was designed and built by a famous Myanmar architect known as U Ngwe Hlaing and resembles the Pyigyimon Royal Barge.  It was constructed between 1972 and 1974 and in the year 1988 it was converted into a restaurant that offers both local and international cuisines.

Buffet lunch is served daily as from 11.00 up to 3pm while dinner is served as from 6pm up to 9pm. Unique sites which make Yangon the best tourist destination

Yangon which is the most populated and largest city in Yangon has changed a lot in terms of tourism since 2012 when the government opened up for visitors. Shwedagon pagoda
It’s also known as Golden Pagoda. It’s a huge 99 meters high diamond-studded spire and gold plated pagoda which is situated at a small hill in Yangon downtown. When it’s dark you will be able to experience a mystical atmosphere with this pagoda being lit up through spotlights.
According to the legends, this pagoda is about 2500 years old, therefore making it the oldest pagoda in Myanmar.  Also, the legends believe that 2 brothers from Yangon (traditionally known as Okkalapa who lived about 2,500 years visited Buddha in India. Buddha gave them 8 of his hairs and told them to enshrine them in Yangon. They gave those hairs to their kind who started to search for a spot where he could enshrine them. After searching for many years but in vain Sularata one of the Nat spirits decided to assist him. It was the same spot identified by this spirit where this pagoda was built.
Once you visit this pagoda you will be able to see 4 entrances to this complex which are guarded by huge chinthes (Burmese mythological lions) which have a white body and their heads are gold-colored. The upper part of this walls of this complex is decorated with beautiful Myanmar styles which implies the previous stories of Buddha and Jataka tales.

Kaba Aye Pagoda
It’s one of the pagodas in Yangon which was constructed recently and is also known as world peace pagoda. The Maha Pasana Guha case and this pagoda were all built by the prime minister of ancient Burma (known as U Nu) so as it could be a place for hosting the 6th Buddhist council. This council ended in the year 1952. It has an ornamental spire which is shaped like an umbrella, the circumference of about 34 meters and is 36 meters tall.
When you get to the inside of this pagoda you will be able to see a hollow pillar which is situated at the center. This pillar is surrounded by 4 Buddha images which have reached Nirvana. (These images are Gautama Buddha, Kanagamana Buddha, Kakusandha Buddha, and Kassapa Buddha.
